Haute Bride and the Return of Tiaras... featured in the LA Times

Tiaras top 2011 bridal trends
After a couple of recession-inspired years that saw brides-to-be paring back, not only on their "I Do" arrangements but with gowns that were more streamlined than princess-like, glamour is back in bridal.

And with it, the tiara.

"Tiaras are a good way to finish your overall wedding-day look, and to do something different and express your personal style," said Ellen Heisler, senior associate fashion editor for Brides magazine in New York, which has flagged tiaras as a trend.

"They don't have the stigma they used to have of being a little too proper or serious," she added.

Just as tiaras are making a comeback in fashion, with Natalie Portman and other stars wearing them on the red carpet, they are beginning to show up in bridal, which is increasingly influenced by celebrity attire. The upcoming nuptials of Kate Middleton and Prince William of Wales is likely to add to the trend.

In bridal, Heisler said, tiaras falls in two camps. There's "the simple, more delicate smaller piece that is tucked into the hair and looks really elegant and beautiful and effortless," said Heisler, referencing the San Francisco line Haute Bride.

One of our BFF's and Past Brides, Tiffany, Featured on Brides.com

Rhee Bevere Photography

A magazine shot of a model or celebrity can provide inspiration for your wedding-day look, but a real bride's style is probably much more attainable. So we asked recent bride Tiffany Acosta to share her fashion and beauty secrets with us. "I wanted my look to be classic and elegant—something that would stand the test of time," says Tiffany. "I went to ten salons without finding anything, and I was ready to give up when I finally visited my friend Lindsie's salon, Haute Bride—I was afraid the gowns would be out of my budget, but I went during an Adele Wechsler trunk show and got a great deal on a gown I loved." Here's how Tiffany put together her look:

Gown: Adele Weschler, Haute Bride, San Francisco
Veil, bracelet, earrings and hair accessories: Haute Bride
Shoes: M by Marinelli, from DSW, San Jose, 408-423-8044
Makeup: Tallie Choudhry, Lux Image Agency, Los Gatos
Hair: Michelle Phillips, Lux Image Agency

CRAVE SF... an Interview with Lindsie Jones of HAUTE BRIDE Design and Salon

HAUTE BRIDE Design and Salon is a full service bridal salon, offering unique and fashion forward designs that stand out from “the dress you can find everywhere.” They offer the perfect selection of gowns to match any taste and personality, everything from simple sophistication to elaborate beaded couture. If you’re looking to add more sparkle to your wedding dress, we love Haute Bride’s owner and designer, Lindsie Jones’ vast selection of customized accessories to get you dazzling from head to toe!

How would you describe your business in 3 adjectives or less?
Fresh, creative, couture.

What are your most popular products or services?
Custom jewelry and bridal accessories hand-made here on location, glamorous statement bracelets, earrings and brooches, and our carefully selected collection of bridal gowns.

People may be surprised to know…
That all of our jewelry is custom and handmade here in San Francisco, and that our gowns are not carried anywhere else in the Bay Area.

What was the inspiration or motivation behind starting your business?
It started after I got married and I had searched high and low for the perfect hair accessories. The company was founded in 2001, and was started by the creation of one hairpin!

Who is your role model or mentor?
My husband; he’s an amazing entrepreneur and has been a huge mentor along the way in the development of Haute Bride.

What mistake have you made in your business that you will not repeat?
I can’t say I won’t repeat it; but it’s been a challenge to exit my business at the end of the work day, and leave it at that. After dinner and putting my boys to bed, I find that I continue to work at least 2-3 more hours before I go to bed.

What is your indulgence?
Shoes, shoes, and more shoes! I’ve learned that it’s not necessary to spend an arm and a leg on shoes; instead I now make shoe brooches to turn my Maddens’ into Manolos’!

Where is your favorite place to go with your girlfriends?
Sushi at Mas Sake in the Marina (Hubby owns it!) and cocktails at RN74 in the Millenium Tower

Brides.com Blogs about Haute Bride and our new Cocktail Bling website!

We had a few calls today at our San Francisco salon from brides ordering our newest creation... Crystallized by Swarovski shoe brooches! I do believe we owe an extra special thank you to Kathryn Papanek of Brides.com! She wrote an amazing little plug on us in their BLOG on Monday and we are huge fans of the Brides.com BLOG. Check out BRIDES.com if you already haven't! Click here for the link!

If you're inspired by
new bride Kendra Wilkinson's blinged-out wedding day look, you'll love the new site Cocktail Bling. Developed by San Francisco-based accessory makers Haute Bride Design, the site features necklaces, earrings and brooches created with Swarovski crystals. I especially like their collection of shoe brooches: the sparkly pieces are a great way to add a personal touch to your wedding-day footwear. The site is also a good resource for bridesmaid gifts— you can use the discount code "bridesmaid" to save 10% on three or more pieces of the same design.—Kathryn Papanek
